Challenges of Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in Cities of Developing Countries

WCTRS SIG H5 organized a special session at CODATU XVII conference held in Hyderabad, India. 

In the Paris Agreement, all countries including developing countries participated, it was decided to prepare countries' reduction targets for greenhouse gases, and it became clear that the mitigation results can be relocated utilizing market mechanisms such as JCM. In this session, we will discuss the state of implementation and future tasks of nation-wide reduction targets by NAMAs that are progressively advanced and projects utilizing market mechanism such as JCM in the transportation sector. 



A welcome address by the WCTRS President, Prof. Dr.Yoshitsugu Hayashi, Chubu University, Japan is followed by four presentations. 

(1) "Mitigation and Adaptation policy framework for climate change impacts on transportation sector in developing countries - A case study of Bangalore, India" by Dr. Ashish Verma, IISc Bangalore, India

(2) "Current status, possibility and challenges of transportation system development utilizing JCM in the transportation sector" by Professor Dr.Fukuda Atsushi, Nihon University, Japan
 
(3) "Analysis of Urban Traffic in Bangkok under Climate Change Scenario for Adaptation Plan Building" by Dr.Varameth Vichiensan, Kasetsart Universiy, Thailand

(4) "Citizen’s Acceptability of Low-Carbon Society in the Middle Sized Cities in Asia" by Dr.Tetsuhiro Ishizaka, Nihon University, Japan
